Swimming in Ronneby

Sixteen official bathing spots

- from a car-free island in the archipelago to a forest lake that warms up before the sea even thinks about it

Ronneby has 16 official bathing spots with water quality monitored throughout June, July and August. The sea beaches run from Saxemara in the west to Ekenäs in the south. The lakes warm up faster - Röabysjön and Mållsjön can reach 21–24°C by late June, when the sea is still a brisk 15°C. And if you choose Karön, you need to take a boat. Worth knowing before you set off.

Brunnsbadet — familjebadet

Ronnebys mest kända badställe hittar du i Brunnsparken.

Three beaches worth the journey

Karön - a car-free island, 7 km from town

SEA · ISLAND

Karön is reached by boat from Ekenäs - there are no roads, no cars and no bridge. The summer ferry runs from the quay at Ekenäs, 7 kilometres south of Ronneby town centre. The island delivers the full Blekinge archipelago experience: a mix of sandy beach, smooth rock and grass, with jetties, beach huts, a barbecue area and toilets on site. A restaurant and a summer café keep things comfortable.

Along the shore path, Victorian-era Swiss-style villas from Ronneby's spa period still stand - the same architectural signature that defines Ronneby Brunnspark in the town centre. A rare piece of 19th-century Swedish resort heritage, still intact and still in use.

Getting there: ferry from Ekenäs, summer season only. Check sailing times before travelling to the quay.
Coordinates: 56.1561° N, 15.2832° E
Facilities: beach huts · jetties · restaurant · café · barbecue

Järnavik Havsbad - accessible ramp & diving platform

SEA · 22 KM WEST

Järnavik is one of the better-equipped sea beaches in Ronneby municipality, 22 kilometres west of the town centre beside Järnaviks Camping. Sandy beach, rocky headlands, jetties, a diving platform and a floating pontoon - the full summer setup. What makes Järnavik stand out is an accessibility ramp leading directly into the water, a facility that is rare along the Blekinge coast and makes this one of the most accessible sea swimming spots in the region.

Adjacent to the beach: the campsite's shop, restaurant and a round of minigolf. The surrounding nature reserve has beech-covered slopes and open rock ledges. The Blekingeleden long-distance trail passes through the area. In summer, the ferry to the island of Tjärö departs from Järnavik's pier.

Röabysjön - the lake that warms up first

LAKE · EARLY SEASO

Five kilometres north of Bräkne-Hoby in the northern part of Ronneby municipality, Röabysjön is a clear-water lake with a wooden jetty, facilities and nothing unnecessary. This is swimming for people who want the forest and the water and not much else around them.

Lakes warm faster than the sea in early summer. Röabysjön can reach 21–24°C in late June during a warm year - at a time when Järnavik and Karön are still sitting at 15–17°C. That makes the inland lakes a genuinely useful option if you are visiting before the sea has caught up. The municipality's other lake bathing spots include Galtsjön, Härstorpssjön, Mållsjön, Skörjesjön and Åsjön. Mållsjön received the highest average rating (4.6 out of 5) of all Ronneby's bathing spots in a review based on Google Maps ratings.
