Lighthouse from 1904
Beskrivning
Hanö Lighthouse is 16 meters high and located on the island's highest point 60 meters above sea level. The lighthouse was built between 1904 and 1906 and is one of the brightest lighthouses in the Baltic Sea. The light range is a full 23.5 distance minutes or about 40 km. Three flashes of light are thrown out over the sea every 13.5 seconds.Previously, there was a lighthouse on the roof of the lighthouse keeper's residence and this was manually operated by a lighthouse keeper. Today's technology, however, has meant that Hanö Lighthouse is fully automated. SMHI's automatic weather observation station is also located at the lighthouse. Among other things, it provides the basis for the sea report's daily data on wind strength and wind direction on Hanö.
