EXHIBITIONS

Eight ways to understand Blekinge's nature

  1. Wetlands - in wet and dry: New for 2026. The role of wetland ecosystems, told through interactive displays. More important than you might think.
  2. The Bräkneån river valley: Follow one of Blekinge's most significant rivers from source to sea. Landscapes, species and the life that depends on clean water.
  3. Sea, coast & archipelago: The Blekinge coastline up close - including the marine aquarium with fish and seaweed from local Baltic waters.
  4. Blekinge's ancient trees: Remarkable old-growth individuals that have watched centuries pass. Quietly impressive.
  5. Brunnsparken - 300 years: The cultural reserve that surrounds you. Its history as a spa park, and the layered landscape it became.
  6. ARK56 & Blekingeleden: Plan your long-distance hike or kayak route with up-to-date maps, trail notes and practical guidance from the staff.
  7. Invasive species: A serious subject, made accessible. Which species are arriving, why it matters, and what is being done.
  8. Medicinal & cultural plants: Traditional plant knowledge from the Blekinge landscape. More a survival handbook than a herbarium.

FAMILIES & CHILDREN

The lab, the treasure hunt and the living things

Naturum is particularly popular with families, and the activities are designed to hold children's attention rather than just occupy it. In The Lab, children - and adults - can examine nature through microscopes, meet mounted birds and insects, and observe live crayfish, bees, antlions and butterfly larvae. The marine aquarium brings the Baltic coast indoors.

Outside, treasure hunts run through both the exhibitions and the park. Children follow clues to find animals and plants, and every participant receives a small prize. A consistent favourite with younger visitors - and a reliable way to cover more ground than you planned.

Every day at 13:00, a guided family tour leads visitors through the exhibitions to feed the animals up close: fish, crayfish, frog spawn and the bee colony. Guides are always available to answer questions.

Walking trails from Naturum

Two trails, one forest
1.3 km

Ekorrestigen - the squirrel trail

Starting behind Direktörsvillan, this white-marked nature trail follows the squirrel Kurrekott through Brunnsskogen. The route climbs to Uvberget - a panoramic viewpoint over the whole park - then continues through mixed woodland to the mysterious Trollsjön lake and the forest hollow known as Rävahiet. Fifteen interpretive posts along the way explain the wildlife and plants of the forest. Available in English, German, Polish and Arabic via QR code at the first sign. Open year-round. Some uneven terrain - good footwear recommended.

Self-guided

Trädstigen - the tree trail

Brunnsparken is home to 50 tree species - from native Swedish varieties to trees that have no business being this far north. Borrow a guide booklet and map from Naturum (available in English) and explore at your own pace. Guided tree walks also take place at selected dates through the season.
