Beskrivning
About a ten-minute drive from the town centre lies Boön – an island with a marina, the sea and excellent opportunities for swimming and walking. The hiking trail around the island is about 3 kilometres long and takes approximately an hour to walk.Boön holds an important place in Karlshamn’s history. It was home to Karlshamn’s first defensive fortification, Gamle skans, and once also Sweden’s largest shipyard. Along the trail, there are information boards detailing the island’s historical and cultural attractions.
Guided tours of Boön can be booked all year round through the Castellanerna Society. The tour takes around two hours and starts at the bridge to Boön, Stärnö Vindhamn.
