Castle area

At this historic site you will find the castle, the castle ramparts, the castle park, the governor's residence and the castle ruins. Here, for centuries, there was a rustic castle complex with moats and towers.

Beskrivning

Today, the castle ruins and the lovely castle park are well worth a visit and a walk.

The old castle was by far the largest and most important of the medieval fortifications in Eastern Denmark and created the conditions for extensive trade. In 1332, Denmark lost the Scanian lands to Sweden. Denmark's Valdemar Atterdag reunited the country under central power and in 1360 Sölvesborg once again came under the Danish rule. Today, it is the yellow, stately building on the site that is referred to as the Castle. The building was originally built in 1802 and is a listed building.

The administrator's residence and the Castle Lanes were declared listed buildings in 1995. The Castle Lanes, which then functioned as outbuildings for Sölvesborg Castle, are now rented out as a venue for large and small events. Here you will find the municipality's events such as the Christmas market, the art explosion and the garden day.

For more information about the buildings, visit the Blekinge County Administrative Board website.
