Here you will encounter unique bird habitats, easily accessible natural environments and a fantastic variety of species – a full 300 bird species have been recorded in the area. Bring your binoculars, pack your lunch and let Sölvesborg show you why it is one of southern Sweden’s top birdwatching locations.

Hanö – A paradise for migratory birds and rare species
Hanö, located in the southern Baltic Sea, is one of the most fascinating bird islands in Blekinge. Tens of thousands of small birds stop here during spring and autumn on their migration between breeding and wintering areas.

Follow the trail from the harbour, past the lighthouse and on to Bönsäcken. Here you can see seabirds such as eiders, loons and waders up close.
Discover the largest colony of the common tern in Blekinge or listen for mockingbirds and lesser woodpeckers in the hornbeam forest.
The boat from Nogersund is adapted for everyone, and there are accessible paths on the island that make the nature experience accessible to everyone.

Tredenborg – Colonies, reedbeds and winter birds
Tredenborg is one of the municipality’s most important birding locations with over 240 recorded species.

Falkholmen: One of southern Sweden’s most important bird colonies with Kentish tern, black-headed gull and the unique black-headed gull.

Reed areas: Keep an eye out for kingfishers, bearded titmice and the majestic egret that likes to move around the reeds of Månsaholmen.

Winter birds: During the winter months, many diving ducks winter here, which attracts large numbers of white-tailed eagles – sometimes you can see dozens at once!

Vesan – Bird of prey safari in the agricultural landscape
Vesan is the obvious place for bird of prey watching during the autumn. With its open agricultural landscape, it is a perfect stopover for migratory birds.

Highlights in September: See species such as the steppe hawk, meadow hawk, brown harrier and evening falcon.
Small birds: Find terns, larks and pipits that thrive in the landscape.
Best spots: Position yourself at Lussabacksvägen or Gammalstorps church for the best possible experience.
