Nässelfrossa 2026

A Summer Festival Rooted in Stories, Music and Rural Blekinge

When the midsummer light lingers over the forests of western Blekinge and quiet country roads wind through lakes, meadows and red-painted cottages, something special begins to happen around Olofström. Village halls fill with conversation, schools transform into concert venues, and local stories come alive through music, art and shared experiences.

This is Nässelfrossa - one of Sweden’s most charming cultural festivals, where the atmosphere feels less like a traditional event and more like stepping into a living summer memory.

Here, culture happens close to people. No giant stages. No rush. Just meaningful encounters, local identity and the kind of warmth that visitors remember long after summer ends.

What is Nässelfrossa?

Held across villages and cultural spaces in the Olofström area, Nässelfrossa brings together local associations, artists, musicians and storytellers in a programme shaped by community and creativity.

Rather than focusing on spectacle, the festival celebrates atmosphere and connection. A conversation over coffee after a lecture. Music drifting through an old school hall on a summer evening. Local dialects, history and humour shared between generations.

It is a festival deeply connected to place - and that is exactly what makes it unforgettable.

Opening Ceremony: Law, Humour and Everyday Philosophy

The 2026 festival opens at Jämshögs Folkhögskola with a talk by Elsa Trolle Önnerfors.

Under the theme “All These Crimes”, the opening blends reflections on justice, language and society with wit and storytelling. It is thoughtful without feeling formal — a perfect example of the intelligent yet welcoming atmosphere that defines Nässelfrossa.

Sunday 21 June, 11:00–12:00
Free admission

“From Gränum With Love” – Celebrating Local Identity

Later in the afternoon, the festival continues at Konsthändigt with the exhibition “Från Gränum with love”.

The exhibition explores local heritage, dialects and stories from the village of Gränum, offering visitors a glimpse into the cultural identity of the region.

Guests can enjoy:

  • An introduction to the exhibition
  • Stories about the Gränum dialect
  • Refreshments
  • A small quiz walk

It is personal, warm and deeply rooted in the landscape and people of Blekinge.

Sunday 21 June, 14:00–15:30

A Summer Music Café in Alltidhult

As evening arrives, the festival moves to Alltidhults Skola where Jens U. Nilsson hosts a relaxed music café filled with summer songs, acoustic performances and audience favourites.

Coffee and homemade fika are served during the interval, and the atmosphere feels wonderfully intimate — more like gathering with friends than attending a formal concert.

Sunday 21 June, 17:00–18:30
Admission: 150 SEK

Why Visitors Keep Returning to Nässelfrossa

Some festivals entertain. Others stay with you.

Nässelfrossa is not about headline acts or commercial spectacle. It is about authenticity, conversation and the joy of discovering culture in places where life moves a little slower.

Visitors return because the festival feels genuine. Because people talk to each other here. Because music sounds different in an old village school surrounded by forest and evening light.

In many ways, Nässelfrossa captures the essence of Blekinge itself - close to nature, close to people and rich in meaningful experiences.
