A large beech forest area in Valje.
Beskrivning
The park is located north of Blekingevägen next to Valje via Berghällsvägen. Along Berghällsvägen you will find a parking lot for the park. Outside the park passes the ancient royal road “Via regia” where several kings have passed on their journey between Skåne and Blekinge. The 8 km long Sölvesborgsleden trail runs adjacent to Hjalmar Stern’s park. The park was created in 1926 when Amy Rosin donated a 4 hectare beech forest area to the city of Sölvesborg. The idea was to give the city’s residents access to the beautiful nature and at the same time preserve the area’s original and natural beauty for future generations. The top of the park is called “Klinta” from where you have a nice view of Valjeviken before the leaves come out. The remains of house foundations have also been found in the park, including a windmill that farmers used to grind flour. Amy chose to name the park after a close friend, Hjalmar Stern, whose name is engraved on three stones in the park. Hjalmar Stern appreciated the beautiful beech forest that the park was made of.
