The many nature reserves found in the municipality all offer a unique and varied nature, with huge beech forests, rolling meadows and proximity to the coast. Lace up your shoes, pack your backpack with coffee and binoculars and set off on a journey of discovery. Don't forget the camera!

 

Ryssberget Nature Reserve

More than 150 meters above sea level, surrounded by one of the country's largest beech forests, you are in the Ryssberget Nature Reserve. Both Blekingeleden and Skåneleden run through the reserve, which is of great value for outdoor life in Sölvesborg. With its beautiful nature and trail system, there is time for rest and well-being, while the proximity to the city of Sölvesborg makes the reserve easily accessible.

Spraglehall Nature Reserve

With a view of Listerlandet and the Baltic Sea and with a varied nature of open pastures as well as forests and rocky outcrops lies the Spraglehalls Nature Reserve. Experience flourishing coastal meadows, beech forests and hazel groves. The ice age is reminded of ice grooves in the outcrops and in the quarry you can see remains of an old rail from the early 20th century. It was during the flourishing stone industry that stone was shipped from Spraglehall to German cities, even today the stone lines streets in both Berlin and Hamburg.

Hjärthalla Nature Reserve

With beech forest and species-rich natural pastures, Hjärthalla Nature Reserve rises in Listerlandet. During the last melting of the ice sheet, Hjärthalla was the highest coastline in the Baltic Sea, a whopping 52 meters above sea level. Hike along the path through a varied nature with biodiversity of unique species up to the summit with views of the vast agricultural landscape.

Brötalyckorna Nature Reserve

Many exciting and protection-worthy species have their home in the thick trees of the Brötalyckorna Nature Reserve. The reserve is a smaller area rich in beech and oak forest. In addition, unique mushroom species thrive in the environment.

Valje Halvö Nature Reserve

Walk along the water in a unique coastal landscape dominated by noble leaves in the surroundings of Valje manor. Many of the giant oaks and lindens that stand majestically on Valje Halvö are several hundred years old. The peninsula is a well-visited area with its popular paths that wind along the sea and opportunities for barbecues. Parts of Valjeviken with its protected shallow soft bottoms are also included in the reserve.

Stiby Backe Nature Reverve

With a view of Kråkenabben, Listershuvud and Hanö, one of Listerlandet's remaining mountains, Stiby backe, spreads out. Hike on one of the many paths through beech and hornbeam forest interspersed with torrents and outcrops up to the summit and visit the burial site where the victims of the cholera epidemic in Listerlandet rest. Memories from the ice age are recalled in the outcrops, view ice grooves and chalk deposits. Stiby hill is also rich in small birdlife.

Listershuvud Nature Reserve

The forested mountain at Listershuvud is today a nature reserve. Once upon a time, millions of years ago, the mountain was an island in a warm sea. Make your way up to the top along the nature trail and take the opportunity to learn more about the geological process, from the Ice Age to the present, as the trail is decorated with interesting information signs.

Hanö Nature Reserve

Take the boat from Nogersund out to Hanö and experience a varied nature with one of Sweden's largest hornbeam forests. Among all the interesting species found on the island, fallow deer graze. The island has had a permanent population since the 1830s and is today a well-visited excursion destination with many exciting places to visit. Among other things, the English cemetery, which is a memory from the time when Hanö served as a naval base for the English.
