Beskrivning
Mörrum’s Kronolaxfiske has something for everyone. In addition to fisheries management, conservation and research, it also offers accommodation, conference facilities, a fishing shop, an exhibition on the history of salmon fishing and an aquarium – all right in the heart of this fishing paradise.People come from far and wide not only to fish but also to experience the beautiful surroundings of the river. Here you can encounter the giant salmon without having to wade in the rushing water yourself, and learn about the history that has made the Mörrum River an El Dorado for fishing enthusiasts worldwide. At certain times of the year, you may also be lucky enough to see the salmon leaping in the river.
Salmon fishing in Mörrum has a long history and has been a royal privilege since time immemorial, meaning it belonged to the Crown. It was first described as early as 1231 in Valdemar II’s land register. The current form of recreational fishing began in 1941.
Every year, tens of thousands of anglers from various countries try their hand at catching salmon and sea trout in the Mörrum River. In addition to fish and other wildlife, the exhibition also presents the history of sport fishing. Here, you can also see live salmon and sea trout in the 13-metre-long aquarium. You can also see models depicting the life cycle of salmon and sea trout, from eggs to adult fish in the sea, as well as lifelike casts of the river’s record-breaking fish.
The Mörrum River and the surrounding area are an attraction in themselves and offer excellent opportunities for walks. The Laxaleden trail passes by Mörrums Kronolaxfiske; this 30-kilometre nature and cultural history walk follows the river’s rushing course through the beautiful Blekinge countryside.
