Carl Gustaf church

Church in the town center.

Beskrivning

Carl Gustaf church is named after the king Karl X Gustav and was built around 1700.

To the east is an apse-shaped sacristy added in 1834. It is built of grey stone and brick. On the inside, the west door features a large wrought-iron lock dating from around 1700. The baptismal font, with a lid of hammered and embossed brass, was donated in 1717. The brass baptismal basin has a double eagle with a crown on its base – the coat of arms of the German Emperor Charles V – and can be dated to shortly after 1519; it is the church’s oldest piece of furniture.
