Skottsbergska Gården

Old merchant´s house in the cultural district of Karlshamn.

Beskrivning

A merchant´s house dating from the 18th century, situated at Drottninggatan no 91 in Karlshamn.
Skottsbergska Gården is one of our countries most prominent monumental bulidings. There is quite a number of castles and manors in Sweden, but burghers houses, mantained in their initial condition as in the case of Skottsbergska Gården, are very scarce not only in Sweden but in the rest of Scandinavia too.

Skottsbergska Gården is unquestionably Sweden´s best preserved merchant´s house built a couple of centuries ago. Regarded as a middleclass dwelling house it is also an outstanding specimen of the 18th century´s interior decoration. Due to its justified merits Skottsbergska Gården has been classified as a national monument thus reminding us of the commercial life in our old towns.
