When Gustav Wasa came to power in 1523, Sweden was a backyard in northern Europe. Just over a hundred years later, Sweden was a great power. At the center of the development was the naval fleet. The story of the build-up is about strong kings, skilled shipbuilders, naval battles and scarce resources.
BeskrivningDan Johansson, PhD student at the Department of History at Stockholm University, visits the Marine Museum and tells us about the structure of the naval fleet.
The lecture is done in collaboration with Folkuniversitetet.
